Below are some of my favorite books and websites. Some of the best vision and
how-to for our sustainable forest gardening future.
Forest Gardening & Permaculture
Creating a Forest Garden – Martin Crawford – a useful, clear and approachable book from
one of the western world’s best hands-on experts in forest gardening. Martin Crawford has
run the Agroforestry Research Trust in Devon, England since 1992.
Edible Forest Gardens – Dave Jacke with Eric Toensmeier – a very thorough exploration of
the principles and practice of forest gardening in two volumes. An excellent reference with
useful lists.
Introduction to Permaculture – Bill Mollison with Reny Mia Slay – forest gardening is an
important part of the practice of permaculture in forested regions. This slim volume has
lots of good ideas and illustrations.
